Choosing the right dog for your family, including the Aussiedoodle, is a huge decision and a lifetime commitment! So choose carefully!

Choosing the Perfect Puppy

Golden Retriever Puppy

At the end of the day, only you can decide which canine breed is really the best choice for your home, family and lifestyle. From full-grown size to personalities and temperaments, to breeds that shed or rarely shed to life expectancies and potential breed-specific health issues, adopting a puppy is not a decision to be taken lightly. The more research you invest in will help you make an educated decision over an emotionally driven one. It may also affect the success or failure of adding a new canine to your home.

Below, let’s look at whether you should choose the Aussiedoodle as your new K9 family member.

Meet the Aussiedoodle!

The Aussiedoodle

The Aussiedoodle is a mixed breed dog of Australian Shepherd and Poodle. This hybrid breed started in the early 2000s.

This designer breed is very popular because they are known as hypoallergenic or non-shedding. While no dog is 100% non-shedding, Aussiedoodles are one of the top breeds whose shedding is minimal and therefore may cause fewer allergy reactions in people with pet allergies.

The Aussiedoodle coat is not low-maintenance, especially with curlier coats. Regular monthly grooming and brushing every other day are important to keep the Aussiedoodle’s coat from matting and tangling.

Aussiedoodles are also known as:

  • Australian Shepherd Poodle Mix
  • Aussiepoodle
  • Aussie doo
  • Aussie poo

Aussiedoodles: Sizes

Typically, there are 3 sizes for the Aussiedoodle (depending on the poodle parent), including:

  • Standard: 30+ pounds
  • Miniature: 20-30 pounds
  • Toy: 15-20 pounds
